We've been discussing in various calls and threads all the ways our privacy is being invaded. I started making a list of various words which come up. They have overlapping and different definitions and one of the things that keeps happening is that folks switch words on us, on others, in order to obfuscate the core issue.
It might make sense to gather the words associated with what we're interested in and develop definitions and show how they relate to the 4th Amendment. Words I have thus far are:
wiretap
eavesdrop
record
sweep
surveillance

wiretapping: “the practice of connecting a listening device to a telephone line to secretly monitor a conversation”
eavesdrop: “secretly listen to a conversation”
record (v): “convert (sound or a broadcast)” into a permanent form for later reproduction
sweep (v): examine (a place or thing) for electronic listening devices
surveillance: close observation, especially of a suspected spy or criminal
You can see by the date I get really busy and keep things on the back burner WAY too long!
