This may not work
Jan 12 2009, 10:25 PM EST
I have a very old pc, so this cut and paste may not work. Jon, I assumed that you were not concerned with why I disagreed wtih Obama, as so many of his supporters seem to not . I disagre wtih the advisors he is picking (most of all Larry Summers, Dennis Ross, etc.), his Daschle health insurance plan that is a giveway to isurance industry and provides 15% of citizens with no coverage, his bobbing around on Gaza and the Midlde East, Iraq, etc.(he speaks out on India) I could go on.I voted for Obama, but was never a TRUE supporter. I am just too liberal for the Dems anymore. I hope that you can convince him to appont a special prosecutor. Now, let me TRY to paste that.lol I have no idea--I dont even have a copy of the mesasge--could you please paste if for me, if you want i t posted? Thank you. I wish you well,, 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I agree, if his appointments reveal his intent we are in big trouble. It will take a huge outpouring from the grassroots to hold him accountable to his "plan" me thinks.

Sorry for the belated response, KDelphi ... and yes the cut-and-paste worked.I'm not trying to change anybody's mind about whether or not to support Obama ... we all need to find ways to work together on these issues. And eggy1943, i agree that a lot of pressure from the grassroots will make it more likely that Obama will follow through on his commitments. It's much like the FDR quote: we'll need to push him in the directions we want him to go. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Speaking for myself, and I suspect many here, I am indeed interested in why you disagree with Obama. I have mixed feelings on his advisors/cabinet members; Daschle is definitely wrong on healthcare; if you are interested in this I suggest working with www.pnhp.org and www.healthcare-now.org. I am surprised that he would appoint H. Clinton as Sec'y. of State, and worried about that. I think Tim Geithner (sp.) should have been disqualified for not the first mistake on taxes, but the second one (fool me once. . . ) and not keeping on top of worker's green-card status. This is not the man we need overseeing the government's (our) money. HIs best pick so far, IMHO, is Joe Biden. I also find myself on the liberal edge of the Dem. party, but then I've always been an independent, picking and choosing my party by issue (Green, Libertarian, Democrat, etc.)I am glad to see that Obama's inaugural speech and his actions in the first few days have been in the right direction, and I agree that we must keep up the pressure, first using our relationship as supporters, but also as concerned citizens. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. I agree Sallijane, if we disagree we need to say why so others can consider it and perhaps offer new ideas. The appointments are troubling at first glance, however it is what Obama demands that is the real thing. Biden is a bit to chummy with Israel. We must together discuss our priorities and than demand their implementation and funding. Grand email campaigns have power, but we need to organize to accomplish it. I am glad to see the first actions! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

5. "too chummy with Israel"

You really hit the nail on the head there. And Rahm Emmanuel is WAY too chummy with Israel. Where I live, in northern New Jersey (across the George Washington Bridge from NYC), a politician practically has to support Israel without question to get elected. Oh, well, I'll have to work on that issue with national organizations. That subject leads us to another group, it seems (not really a Constitutional issue). . . . :(

Good point. However, if this group intends to be a motivational force it behoves us to be outspoken on issues of the day. IE when bills affecting our UNITED STATES [US] are up for grabs, I think we should voice our opinion. as a group it has a bit more weight, like a petition. Of course we need to identify issues and censor this groups position on them first.
