A technique we frequently use to help get the word out is to trying to get a post onto digg.com's front page. For those who don't know about digg, it's a place where users vote on what stories they think are the most interesting ... a lot of people subscribe to the front page as a news source, so if we get a story or blog post there it gets our ideas out to a *lot* of eyeballs ... some of which are connected to fingers who will then try to vote for us.
If you're already a digg member, please help. if not, now would be a great time to join.
The links we are currently digging:
Warning: digg comments often get nasty. it's a sexist place in general; and since this post thanks DREAM activists for their help, we may well get a lot of racist and nativist comments. so be prepared -- or just avoid the comments!
to vote, if you're logged in to digg, just click on the
digg it link right below the number near the top left. when you vote successfully, the text will change to "dugg!" and the number will increase.
You can also 'share' the link with your friends on digg (also known as "shouting") or via email. Don't do this too often, though ... you don't want people to think of you as a spammer.
If you're not logged in, clicking on the
digg it link will bringup a popup that prompts you to join (if you're not already a member) or login. if try to join and you don't get confirmation mail, check your spam folder.
If you're also on Facebook or Twitter
You can post digg links to your Facebook profile or share them with friends just like any other URL. If you're not sure how to do that, see our page on
Advocating on Facebook.
You can also tweet about it, using tinyurl's to point people to the digg page -- check out our Twitter page for examples. For the endorsements, the tinyurl is
