Updates sometimes appear elsewhere before making it to the wiki, for sonow, please also check the Coverage pagefollow and our Twitter feed. The Strategy page gives a strategic overview. Past media updates are on the Media room, July 8-20 page.If you write or blog about us, please refer to us as the "Get FISA Right" movement; we'd also appreciate it if you mention and link to getFISAright.net and our my.barackobama.com group President Obama, Please Get FISA Right. Thanks!NEW: July 29:Our Fight FISA on TV! campaign gathered momentum with Sarah Lai Stirland's Opposed to Wiretap Amnesty? Run a TV Ad for Six Bucks on Wired'sThreat Level getting picked up by Slashdot and elsewhere; we're already over2,000 views of the YouTube video, well on the way to our goal of 10,000-20,000 views. Ads have been paid for in Los Angeles, Raleigh, and Dallas. Next up: the bright lights and big city of New York, where the ad's just been cleared to run on cable. We're working with SaysMe.tv to provide a way that people can pool money to get placement in some of the pricier slots. We're also starting to plan for future ads, with a campaign that will continue through the election and into next year, in preparation for the FISA battle resuming in congress. [More about our strategy here.]

Early results on influencing the platform through the "listening" process are promising, with our language getting adopted in several meetings -- see Thomas Nephew's detailed report on newsrackblog.com, and a handful of others in the thread on the getfisaright.net message boards. We're also participating in the civil liberties plank of the Netroots Platform Project.

July 27: On Monday, Get FISA Right will launch the Fight FISA on TV campaign with our first cable TV ad, "Don't let our Constitution die", partnering with SaysMe.tv. Nancy Scola's got a quick summary in her Daily Digest ontechPresident; Jon Pincus goes into more detail in Get FISA Right, the video! onOpenLeft.
The ad's currently available in Los Angeles, Raleigh, Charlotte, and Dallas-Fort Worth; the video's on YouTube as well. Hopefully this doesn't need to be said, but just in case: please feel free to embed and broadcast! As well as the Get FISA Right angle, this is part of an interesting bigger-picture story as online activists look for new ways to engage with TV audiences. Can SaysMe.tv's support for grassroots-funded cable ads, targeted by zipcode and network, make a difference in close congressional races with national visibility like Darcy Burner's? How best to take advantage of the YouTube/TV synergies here? There are still some rough edges in the process and the software, but with several months to go before the election there's plenty of time to work those out.* current planning; as always, subject to change.
