How you can use Twitter to get involved with activism for the JUSTICE Bill and PATRIOT Act reform. Whether or not you have a Twitter account, you can follow the broader conversation about the PATRIOT Act using Twitter Search or Twazzup. Tweeting points

The easiest way you can help is by relaying our "tweeting points". On Twitter, this both adds your voice to the others saying "i agree", and informs anybody who's following you. We'll send out tweeting points once or twice a day to start with via email, Twitter, and RSS. If there are ones you agree with, all you have to do is tweet them. How easy is that?

Using act.ly

Act.ly is a great way of doing viral petitions on Twitter, and we'll be using it extensively to target politicians and hopefully engage in a dialog. To "sign" an act.ly petition, all you need to do is tweet the text and link ... so for example

@RussFeingold and @SenatorTomUdall : thanks for introducing the JUSTICE Act http://act.ly/kn #patriotact

Adds you to the list of the people who have signed the petition.

You can also send act.ly links around in email, embed a widget if you've got a blog, and even start your own petitions.

The #patriotact hashtag

The hashtag is a way of organizing information to allow other activists to find tweets about the PATRIOT Act easily. If you are tweeting about the JUSTICE Act or anything else to do with the PATRIOT Act, please include #patriotact in your tweet. You can view all the tweets to #patriotact using Twazzup at http://www.twazzup.com/search?q=%23cfpconf or using Twitter search at http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23cfpconf.

Accessibility

Accessible Twitter is an application (still in the "alpha" stage) written by Dennis Lembrée that provides web accessibility for Twitter that works with or without Javascript. Items currently implemented include making all links are keyboard accessible, large default text size and high color contrast, and forms marked up for optimal accessibility.
