The final version will have background music, probably a different voice, and more pictures ... PS: remember, if you'd like to have your photo in the final version, please send it to matt {at} saysme {dot} tv by Thursday at 4 (Pacfiic time).

This is a more substantive ad that we'll be running around the country in the months following the inauguration, focused on changing minds. (More about the Inauguration ads at http://get-fisa-right.wetpaint.com/page/Inauguration+ad )
Some of the ideas that have been suggested so far: * a conversation on the phone being wiretapped and the government misunderstanding. this helps deal with the reaction so many people have: "I don't have anything to hide!" * possibly relate to Ft Dix terrorism trial [link and discussion on the main page] * a 'rightsometer' showing where we are, where we were 8 years ago and where we should be [our goal] * tie to Obama's own experience "In the office, bumbling Verizon employees, like creatures in a Harry Potter movie, are prying through the files, showing each other O's calling records, making snide comments about "O's ohs!", etc." Thoughts on these? New ideas? Detailed suggestions for text and visuals?

Off the top of my head, I'd say our goals are
1) to let President Obama know that we are still interested in continuing the discussion with him 2) to let our members know "hey, we're still here", and (by pointing them to the web site) encourage them to get involved, and 3) to start recruiting new members What do others think?

The idea of running a newspaper ad as well has come up several times. To do this, we'd need to design the ad -- and raise enough money to run it. One possibility would be to try to work with Strange Bedfellows, who raised over $300,000 in the spring for a full-page ad in the Washington Post.
Thoughts? Anybody want to take the lead on this?

This is an ad with a light tone, primarily targeted at DC during the inauguration, focused on congratulating President Obama -- AND reminding him that we're holding him accountable. (More about the Inauguration ads at http://get-fisa-right.wetpaint.com/page/Inauguration+ad )
Some of the ideas that were suggested for this on and after the phone call include - relate it to the "don't let our constitution die" ad - images of the constitution at the top fo the org chart on change.gov - big crowds (like for inauguration -- and the crowds we'll be mobilizing to stand up for our civil liberties) - puppies So far the only script suggestion is: "Congratulations, President Obama. Now, please Get FISA RIght." Thoughts on this -- theme, visuals, text? |
