Note that non-partisan organizations like EFF and ACLU may not be able to endorse the ads. However, their members are intersted in the issue, and so they may well be able to cover this as "an interesting activism story".

| JonPincus | Which days/nights to run the ads at the RNC. | 5 | Aug 28 2008, 1:04 PM EDT by JonPincus | ||

We've got at least one "John McCain would do the same" ad sponsored on Fox, and (via fundable.com) some pooled money for several of the issue-oriented ads ("we're building a new movement" and hte original "don't let the constitution die" ads).
What are the best days and nights to run them? For the nights, Monday evening, with Bush and Cheney speaking, would be great -- except I don't think it's getting televised. The themes for Tuesday and Wednesday are "Reform" and "Prosperity", and we're not a great match for either of those ... which leaves Thursday, with McCain accepting the nomination. Of course, the delegates themselves won't see the ads; bloggers and reporters, however, are likely to. Days are cheaper, and we may be able to pick up some delegate viewers as well (not sure how much that matters). However, this doesn't have the effect of saying "we ran the ads during the convention." Thoughts? |

Please use this thread for discussions about the timing of the various items in the launch. For example:
- when should we do the media release? If we do something during the Democratic convention, it's likely to get drowned out. If Obama announces the VP Thursday night or Friday morning, we also won't be able to get above the noise. Should we do something unusual like releasing over the weekend? In a blog-oriented world, we might get some pick up -- which would give us buzz going into Monday ... - when should we do our blast mail to Facebook? Sunday could be good for this... |
