"Background: The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) filed a class-action lawsuit against AT&T on January 31, 2006, accusing the telecom giant of violating the law and the privacy of its customers by collaborating with the National Security Agency (NSA) in its massive, illegal program to wiretap and data-mine Americans' communications. In May, 2006, many other cases were filed against a variety of telecommunications companies. Subsequently the Multi-District Litigation Panel of the federal courts transferred approximately 40 cases to the Northern District of California federal court." "This page collects pleadings and other information from the multi-district litigation that apply to all of the cases or that are not otherwise included in the specific case pages for the multi-district litigation arising from the warrantless wiretapping. This includes decisions that affect all of the cases together, case administration orders and related information, and information about the cases that are currently stayed or that have been dismissed." FISA controversy is one of many constitutional violations by a congress of collaborators. Together, with the silence on the many constitutional outrages, (everything from Patriot, to Military Commissions, etc...) we have a pattern which forms the systematic dismantling of the constitution and Bill of RIghts. A new article surfaced on Huffpo's 'Off the Bus,' entitled: The Character Issue, FISA, and the Constitution. It was posted 06/30/08 by Jeanine Molloff. This article speaks to not only the larger picture of constitutional abuses and the need for restoration of constitutional rule; but also gives alternative ideas for action to stop an executive like Bush who is clearly out of control. Apparently, impeachment is not the only tool. The Judiciary Committee of the House, (independent of SPeaker Pelosi), can hold what is called a 'Grand Inquest.' Just the registering of the Grand Inquest prevents the permanent power grab now under way. Molloff cites a case, I believe the 'YOungstown' case which stated precedent for the executive to claim extra powers if congress has been notified and does not register a protest. The truth is, the Dems don't need the votes; they just need a spine and a moral compass. Read Jeanine Molloff's post at 'Off the Bus' entitled: The Character Issue, FISA and the Constitution.
