This page describes our communications channels -- and some ideas for how to improve things. It's in a very early state, please help improve it.
- the group's email list (listserv). very high volume. 4000 members; many receive in digest form once a day. virtually nobody can keep up with all the email but it's the best way to get word out broadly and quickly. please see using the email list for more about email ettiquette in the group
- If you are having problems changing your email settings, please double-check that you're logged in and are following the instructions in the frequently asked questions. If it still isn't working, please see the blog thread on this topic for what to do next.
- If you're seeing a lot of duplicate emails, it's not just you. This seems to be a bug in the listserv software.
- Apologies to everybody who signed up for mailing list "digests" and got a file too big to read in email. Please report the problem to the myBO support using the "other thoughts and questions" button on the myBO contact page. We will try to work with them to get around this and other bugs -- and to get the digests posted in a usable way without publishing everybody's email (which would turn it into a magnet for spammers)
- If anybody knows a better way to contact myBO support, please add it here!
- the wiki. the front page has the most important information; the navigation box on the left has links for specific topics; there's also a discussion forum
- OpenLeft. of the large progressive blogging communities, this has had the most front-page posts and diary entries about our campaign. the "quick hits" are also a good way to get updates
- the Facebook group. admins send out update messages every couple days or so, and there's a discussion board
- Twitter feed; good for getting information out quickly, and keeping the "digerati" informed
How can we improve?
A few ideas:
- a lower-volume "planning" group.
- daily conference calls people can dial into
- online chats
- a blog, as an easy place for people to get major updates -- and for those who prefer RSS. current thinking: host in use the new Blog space at www.constitutioncampaign.org
- a discussion forum -- invision power board, phpbb -- to take some of the load off of the listserv.
- tagging: make sure all posts are tagged Obama, fisa, getfisaright
- a merged RSS feed for all the FISA activists ... suggestions on how to do this?
