| Ari Melber's The People's Press Conference in The Nation introducesat 10 AM on March 19 introduced Ask the President, a project where people can suggest and vote on questions that will potentially be asked at a White House press conference. President Obama's next press conference iswas at Tuesday,March 24, 8 PM EasternEastern. When (FacebookI eventsent here).out mail to the group, I asked " Wouldn't it be great if somebody asked about FISA and the Patriot Act?Act?" ToWhen votethe press conference started, we were #8 (I think) with +200 votes, and the highest "approval rating" (ratio of yes/no votes) in the top 10 at over 90%. Bob Fertik's special prosecutor question, which we endorsed in the Ideas for Change competition, was at #3. Based on the patterns of when I sent out mailings and when the votes came in, I'd guesstimate that 80-120 votes came from our question, email pleaselists and blog, 60-100 from Facebook, and 30-50 from Twitter. Bob got off to a much earlier start than clickus and got consistent flow from his post on Democrats.com. Unfortunately, I mistimed the greenFacebook message: Facebook was flaky when I first tried sending it late Sunday night, and then I didn't have time "thumbsto get to it until Tuesday at noon. Ooops. Still, a up"very icon.good Nooutcome. loginThanks required!all for participating! jon |
