i need to create a bill for my government class. What i thought of was that cafeterias should post their nutritional content for all the food they offer, would this be a good idea?

Please list the products that the two brothers from Texas who created and give monye to the tea party sell. i would like to boicot the products. This is my way of opposing them. If all of usl who don't like the tea party and what they stand for, boicot they may have less money to hurt us.

I suggest that the group consider getting behind the coalition effort (led in part by the ACLU) to revive the US Privacy and Civil Liberties Oversight Board (PCLOB). Among the signatories are Pelosi and Reid, as well as many other key members of Congress. I suggest we do this because we need a victory, even if a minor one, even if in affiliation with other organizations or individuals we don't exactly condone, in order to stay together and viable. Here's the letter the Coalition sent to Obama earlier this year:

We can debate alternative courses of action to address various slights until we're blue in the face, but each week that goes by shrinks our numbers. Soon we'll be a few folks hocking each other about this or that social ill, like codgers on a park bench, while events pass them by. Not on our watch! Let's get relevant.
I do like the idea of prodding Dodd to take this line of policy up as his legacy project during his last months in office and beyond. Make that our longer range goal -- at least until financial reform is done -- and getting the PCLOB reestablished our short-range goal. That's my suggestion.

Mission Statement
We are a proud, informal association of supporters of President Obama during his campaign who believe in the president's call for hope and a new kind of politics. Our ultimate mission is to restore fundamental principles of American Constitutional Law to a range of national security laws while preserving essential national security authorizations.
Vision Statement
Our vision is one of an America that is both free and secure. We see an America in which the federal government is able to detect, track, and block terrorists, but also in which the ordinary citizen is not afraid of the government nor of his or her neighbors—an America in which every citizen understands that in all just wars people are required to sacrifice. Our view of America is one in which added citizen and government vigilance does not involve destroying basic Constitutional protections.

. . . I realize that it could be improved—use of “law(s)” and “national security” twice each within one sentence isn't great.
I do like separating “Who we are” from the mission statement—maybe “Our history” rather than “Who we are”, as we expect to expand beyond the campaign supporters.
I made some changes to the statement itself.

First, thanks to Harry for taking the bull by the horns. I have three points in reply.
First, the "Obama supporters" intro. I know that being associated with Obama is the legacy of this group. However, what was right in 2008 is not necessarily right in 2010. It's been three years since Obama renounced his pledge to fight FISA and this year we learn about an extension. Continuing to say that we're Obama supporters (a) buys us no votes, (b) suggests we're slow learners, and (c) indicates that we are resigned to being kicked in the ass by our nominal leader.
There's little chance that this statement will find support among other political factions, right or left, Republican or Democratic, other than those still aligned directly with Obama. Most progressives, Tea Party activists, staunch defenders of civil rights, and all of those Democratic political figures who went out on a limb to oppose FISA only to have Obama double-cross will reject it.
I'm not saying this group should abandon its identity, but it doesn't make it easier to be defending a controversial political figure who has NEVER offered us even a hearing, let alone a fig leaf or support. Who has in fact always been in opposition to us.
Second,the resort to fighting terrorism rankles. "Terrorism" (= fear) is quickly replacing patriotism (= false pride) as the last resort of scoundrels. Glenn Greenwald wrote a major column on this recently. Must we mention terrorism each time we speak of liberty?
Third, our mission statement should get to the point: reversing FISA and ensuring Americans aren't spied on. That would be big enough for me. And small enough to attract allies without a lot of extra effort perhaps spent in vain.
I think Mark's edit's are in the right direction but insufficient. However, this is a group mind thing, so more comments, please.

I really like the vision!
I split the "Who we are" out from the mission statement proper. I agree with Bob that what was right in 2008 is not necessarily right now. Get FISA Right needs to broaden beyond our original core of Obama supporters + former Obama supporters. So I am not sure how much to emphasize the Obama aspects in our definition.
A couple on questions on the mission statement:
- it too specific to focus only on national security issues?
- is there a way to ground our mission emotionally as well as legally?

Can we make up literature for Patriot Day, large publicity for our Mission Statement and letting activists know our plans for the fall, whether 9/11 or Oct. 12? How does Oct. 12 date fit in with Columbus Day/immigration issues; it could serve as a negative in terms of how much harm those of European ancestry have done to this land, or as a positive, in terms of how earlier generations of immigrants can help newer immigrants, and why people immigrate here—the true American Dream of not only financial opportunity, but a government that is not intrusive or repressive. I do like the idea of splitting the libertarians, see who is really on our side.
I could attend conference calls at any of the following times, generally any time after 4 Eastern (7 Pacific): 1st Monday, Ist Tuesday, 1st Friday, 1st Saturday, 1st Sunday, 2nd Wednesday, 2nd Thursday after 7/10 (E/P), 2nd Friday, 2nd Saturday (after 6:30/9:30 E/P), 2nd Sunday, 3rd Monday, 3rd Friday, 3rd Saturday, 3rd Sunday, 3rd Monday (4/7 E/P), 4th Monday (4/7 E/P), 4th Tuesday, 4th Wednesday, 4th Thursday, 4th Friday, 4th Saturday, 4th Sunday. If a time is specified, I have a conflict before or after the time indicated, and am limited to the stated time. Shall I do a survey of our previous meeting attendees to find out what is best for the majority? It could also include a vote on doing something (probably something virtual or releasing literature and/or a video; not too much more that we could pull together in 6 weeks) on April 19, Patriots’ Day, which I believe is a Monday.
I agree that turning MyBO over to the DNC was SO wrong; we at North Jersey Grassroots still use the site for posting meetings, but are migrating away. The fact that OfA is reaching out to Mark shows that the value us (or him!), which is good news—how can we build on that?

I really like what Mark has done here, changing the mission statement to be more achievement oriented than activity oriented. He has a whole lot of experience crafting mission statements, and it's fantastic that we have his help here!
To jumpstart discussion though, I'll play devil's advocate on a few points:
In the mission statement, do we want to refer to ourselves as "organized but unofficial" Obama supporters? Not sure of our definition of an official Obama supporter. Also, do we want to have parantheses in the first sentence encompassing this point, or could we use commas or anything else?
In the vision statement, I very much like the emphasis on the America "we see". Do we want to repeat "we see" as much as we do now though, or could we refer to the vision using different words that still directly refer to the emphasis on what we see?
